Youtube:for & against essay

In the last years, technology is more and more involved in our educational system.Teachers seem to be more willing to join it to their daily lessons. In this way, apps and websites expand the possibilities to enhance the learning process and one of the most popular is Youtube, which has as many benefits as downsides.
Firstly,it is necessary to point out that Youtube is one of the greatest resources to download and share information. Here it is possible to find a wide range of videos. For this reason, it is a fantastic tool for teaching with the help of films, documentaries, songs and tutorials that could be shown to students.Videos can be added to the lessons with the intention of introducing new topics or supporting explanations. For instance, in lessons like History or a foreign language, students seem to be more involved in the topics because teachers show them videos about historical episodes in the first case, or they listen to popular songs in the language they are learning. In the same way, the great variety of videos allow teachers to look for what they consider the best option according to the topic. It is organized in different categories of contents, offering users facilities in research and selection. It is also a free website, which means that is accessible for everybody. Besides,it presents special channels for teachers such as “Teachers” and ”Ted-Ed”,where they may be able to do more specific research or to look for activities.
Even though Youtube may seem an amazing and unique tool, its incorporation in the classroom sometimes brings a number of issues to consider. One of the main disadvantages is that Internet connection is necessary. This fact could bring important complications to show videos in those places where the WiFi access is not good enough, or simply it is non-existent.This situation makes teachers download the videos beforehand, which occasionally are failed, so it is impossible to watch them in a right way. Another drawback of this website is the inappropriate content. The fact is that anybody can advertise a product or a film in the website, making it inaccurate for underage students, especially in the classroom. These commercials can be omitted after ten seconds, and if they show an advertisement about alcoholic drinks, explicit and violent films or series, and models with sensual clothes, teachers could not avoid it. Another negative aspect of this site is the validity of the information. YouTube not only consists of valid and helpful information, but also baseless and unhelpful one. In most cases, students do not know whether the data is true or not, so, it is extremely important that teachers show them how to look for information and select it.
Taking everything into account, there is no doubt that YouTube is a great way to make students explore and learn things visually, but along with that, responsibility in its use has to be taken into account. It clearly offers an incredible opportunity to make innovative classes, considering what learners like these days, and what helps them learn better. It can be said it is teacher´s obligation to show them the proper way to use this website.

The overhead projector in schools

At present, teachers have many different ways to present their subjects, new information and contents to students in a more interesting manner than in the past by the use of technological tools. The overhead projector is piece of equipment that is used to show images, videos, messages, presentations, and also, it is one of the most common devices that is used into the classroom to accomplish several tasks.
The first advantage of the use of this technological tool is that it provides teachers with another possibility to present the material and activities to their students in an interactive and motivating way. A clear example of some interactive homework is when the teacher suggests students to work in groups using the overhead projector instead of using boring copies. Not to mention the fact that it improves the process of working together to the same end, and the collaboration among school children. An additional advantage of this device is that it helps professors in all the levels of education to develop the contents of their subjects systematically. For instance, in kindergarten and primary level, educators can show and explain concepts through the projection of images or videos in order to catch kids´attention. Furthermore, it facilitates the comprehension of ideas and stimulates new learning and understanding.
Nevertheless, there are disadvantages to consider regarding the use of this technological tool. One of the main drawbacks of this resource is that not all the schools have one, or if they do, they do not have the right or necessary facilities to use it. In particular there are many institutions that have no a projection room or in some cases, if they have one, they are not used. Also classrooms have to be equipped with electric power and electric plugs to have an easy connection. Another negative aspect of this device is that it requires an specific training and knowledge to accomplish the showing correctly. However, there are a lot of school teachers who are not involved in their own training and improvement about the use of this electronic equipment into the school room.

To sum up, nowadays colleges in every educational level have to increase their knowledge about the use of this technological device in order to enhance the quality of learning and introduce new methodologies of teaching. Moreover the overhead projector into the classroom has a great educational value and it is an important teaching resource.

The for and against of using a netbook in the classroom

The for and against of using a netbook in the classroom

Information and communication technologies are being increasingly used by today’s schools. Several different devices are being used to accomplish mobile learning in classes, but few are as popular as the use of netbooks for education. However, these portable devices have both advantages and disadvantages.
There can certainly be some real advantages of using Netbooks in the classroom. First of all, these digital computers are  interactive, practical and versatile machines that students can easily transport to school every day. Students do not need to carry heavy textbooks; on the contrary they have easy access to any information on their computers. As well as that,  laptops have various programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft OneNote, Openoffice and Adobe Photoshop, on various operating systems that students can use to complete their work quickly and efficiently. Finally, teachers can use computers to provide students with extra material that they can use to review what was learned in class and professors can also give homework or projects in order to develop students’ abilities and enhance their learning.
On the other hand, the use of computers in the classroom has disadvantages as well. Firstly, it is very easy for students to get distracted when they are not using their laptops for academic purposes. One of the main distractions are social networks like Facebook, Instagram and now even “WhatsApp on PC”,  which could cause a loss of a student’s attention towards what is happening during the class. On top of that, computers cannot accurately teach students how to write a correct essay or sentence due to the fact that these devices auto correct every word that students write. In addition to this, proper penmanship cannot be achieved virtually; students must practice writing in order to develop neat and legible handwriting. Lastly, another disadvantage of using computers in the classroom is that teachers usually do not have previous training on the use of computers or knowledge about their tools, which makes it difficult for them to access to multiple educational content and new ways of teaching.
So, all in all, it is understandable that technology brings along advantages and disadvantages, and that the adoption of the use of Netbooks in the classroom is something that teachers are still getting used to this. Nevertheless, this innovative way of working in the classroom can also open doors to new experiences, new ways of learning and collaborating.

Advantages and disadvantages of educational technology.

Technology in schools all around the world.

Technology is everywhere, the majority of people around the world have a mobile phone, a tablet or a computer. Nowadays, they need these devices to be in touch with other people or maybe to use in their jobs. In first world countries technology plays a very important role in the schools while in third world countries these resources generally mean something bad. So, the fact that these gadgets are in all places imply a big sinnumer of advantages and disadvantages.
In the first place, there is no doubt that technology is a relevant resource in schools today. In Finland, for example, there is no desks because professors think that they are not necessary and the absence of them promote motivation and creativity. In addition, third world countries show people how effective are current devices. They take advantages of the good management of the cell phone by children and teach others uses of the gadgets like video editors, communications with others experts through internet, different softwares, etc.
In the other place, in third world countries technological devices can be considerate like a big disadvantage. Most of them say that trendy gadgets are a distractor and a waste of time. They think that attentiveness drops drastically in the classroom when students have their cell phones or other kind of technology. Another disadvantage is the lack of control, the access to inappropriate content, the biggest concern it comes to the use of technology in schools and how easy is find pornography, violence and other unsuitable materials. This could cause big problems if the materials are shared with other students while they are in the classroom.
There are clearly both pros and cons of people technology use. It is important for them to learn and understand how to use the technology because it´s become part of their daily lifes. Furthermore, technology use must not be excessive, it is important for users of technology to understand that yes, technology is an amazing thing, but at the same time it should not be used all the time.

THE USE OF COMPUTERS IN THE CLASSROOM

Education may be a privileged scope for the use of technology, specially the utilization of computers that can solve specific problems in the classroom. But the use of this device may have many advantages as well as some disadvantages.

One major advantage is that students can occupy  the computer to find out information, download and read books directly from the network, it is a way of saving time in classes, avoiding the use of copies and even the fact of spending money in printed material since they are sometimes really expensive. Another positive aspect in respect to computer is that it has made the process of teaching and learning easier, faster and more enjoyable, since some subjects that students deem challenging or boring can become more entertaining with a virtual lesson, through a video, or when using a computer.

On the other hand, the use of this appliance could be dangerous if it is  wrongly used. Parents and teachers should exert their control to these devices in order to avoid their children getting into an appropriate websites for their age. Another major disadvantage is that students are often more familiar with the use of computers than teachers. This imbalance could be a factor of conflict and difficulty for educators, because if they do not have much experience with the use of computer, students may lose interest in learning through that tool.

To sum up, with the addition of laptop computers to education many teachers may believe that using books and copies is a thing of the past. Besides this device could be an interesting way of catching students’ attention and motivation. All depends on the way it is used.

Smartphones at the classroom.

Being techies ourselves, we believe that having ICT in the classroom is not only extremely important but also necessary. Some people may think that these devices can distract the students but if we know how to handle an ICT device in class, it can be a huge advantage to make the class easier and more interesting. Of course, ICT tools have some disadvantages too -distraction is one of them-, so a teacher should know how to handle them.

One argument in favour is the possibility of using the dictionary app which we can downloaded to our smartphones. For instance, when a person buys a Longman dictionary, it comes along with a CD which has programs for the PC or laptop and an app for the smartphone. So it is possible to have a two thousand pages dictionary in a little gadget. Also we can download apps from the  mobile phone store for free, so it is not necessary to buy any printed version of a dictionary for instance. Furthermore, some of these apps do not need Internet service to work, making their use easier in classrooms without wireless networks.

On the other hand, nowadays all smartphones have a lot of apps which most of them are games. Some of them require a lot of hours of gameplay to complete. They even need permanent attention to upgrade and take all of the students’ concentration. Just receiving a notification distracts them and damages their task performance. Additionally, by engaging them in so many activities, a smartphone could become a source for an addiction, which engages their minds and captivates them for a long time, even to adulthood.

To conclude, we know that smartphones are great devices to carry information and tools for educational and entertaining purposes. Not only that, but also it saves us a lot of time. Still, we must know the place and the time to use our smartphones usefully to not interfere in the educational process.

ICTs in the classroom- Use of computers.

In this globalized world, ICTs have exerted a big impact on education. Nowadays, students are in contact with many technological devices which make their life lives completely different to other generations.  For the last ten years, the government of each nation has implemented a program which facilitates access to a netbook and its use in the classroom, something that can be beneficial or disadvantageous according to the way students use them.
Some teachers are in favour of the use of computers to do homework or tasks in classrooms because they are valuable  sources of knowledge. Students not only can navigate websites and find the information they need, but also download applications and programs which make the process of learning more interesting. These technological tools allow teachers to create an exciting way of teaching, incorporating images, videos and graphics. For instance, in subjects such as history, that are considered “boring”,  teachers could show films to their students in order to change the habitual way of giving lessons.
Nevertheless, there are certain negative aspects of the implementation of technology at school. It is not bed of roses teaching in this technological world. A further drawback of the use of netbooks is that students tend to forget the basic way of studying. They do not put effort and interest in investigating and producing their own work. What is worse, it is believed that the use of internet decreases their creativity and imagination. One clear example of this is the use of webpages on the Internet to do a practice work, because students are used to cutting and pasting. Another negative aspect of this kind of educational technology is that students navigate social networks during lessons and this generates a distraction.
To conclude, there is no doubt that technology is a very important resource in the classroom and the use of netbooks promotes the development of abilities and the enrichment of the process of learning and teaching. It is a valuable tool if students give them a good use. For that reason it is necessary that teachers take into account all its effects.

Our video

Is it possible to summarize the main causes of crime in our country?

This could seems to be a simple task but actually it is a troubling one. According to my personal point of view, the aspect that should be analyzed as the main causes of the increasing rates of criminality in my country, would be drugs and poverty .

Nowadays, drugs are a huge problem all over the world and many people are involved in this business. Drug dealers are wealthy individuals and they are always bribing judges, policemen, politicians and another officers to develop their criminal activities. In our country, criminal persons commit any kind of crimes to get money for their drugs . Everyday, such activities are increasing the rate of criminality and the violence on the way these things happen.

I also think, another cause of crime  that should be mentioned here is Poverty as well. The lack of genuine jobs and  high prices in the whole economy leads people to appeal to robbery, to burglary, mugging and others easy ways to get money. But the most disturbing fact is that under-aged kids are used to do these kind of things.

Nevertheless, the other part of the community  think that no excuses are enough to be involved in crime. The honest community that live in  poor neighbourhoods try to get even little jobs as a way to give  their children a good example how to live humbly. Unfortunately, humble persons are the target of criminals to steal them, or worse, to kill them.

To conclude, nowadays in our country exists several reasons that encouraged to human race to commit crimes. We can be witnesses of horrible crimes that were commited by thieves, murderers , even normal mob or under-aged kids as well because of their personal issues. But in my opinion, drugs and poverty are the main ones topping my list.

Advantages and Disadvantages Essay : Education and Technology

These days, each person is surrounded by technology. Clearly, technology is presented as an interesting option at teaching time, where several applications, technological devices, social networks, etc. can be found to help with the tasks. An example of these are netbooks that have became an important challenge for teachers and have both positive and negative aspects.

On the one hand, these technological devices enable students and teachers to download different applications to develop studying skills, such as digital dictionaries, and books. In addition to this, they are more mobile, and easier to carry and pack; that is to say, they can be easily carried from home to school. Besides, hand-held computers can be used to make the class more entertaining, with the use of softwares like Prezi, and PowerPoint for creative presentations.

On the other hand, a lot of benefits depend on the access to the Internet; and the majority of schools have no connection to it. Moreover, as netbooks come in small size, it is difficult to have place for the DVD drive. This tool is required to play CDs with different useful contents. Not to mention the fact that, sometimes students misuse these artefacts; in other words, they are not aware of their importance and play games instead of studying.

Taking everything into account, the introduction of netbooks is a demanding task, and teachers should make students conscious of their purpose and educational benefits. In this way, they know that all the technology that keeps students entertained can also be presented in the classroom to learn better in a more enjoyable way.

Is the use of ICTs in the classroom important?

Of course yes, through ICTs students can learn in a distinct way, interact and do different homework depending on the subjects. Nowadays, they are useful for teachers to develop their attractive classes because it is easier to teach with a computer or other audiovisual devices to catch their attention.

In the first place, the use of these technological tools allows students to support their classes to make them more dynamic and the knowledge easily acquired. For example, when they have to give a subject presentation, they use notebooks, overhead projector, pendrive and loudspeakers. However, another advantage about this topic is motivation, pupils listen to music or audios, download YouTube videos, search information in educational websites or make use of Microsoft and Google applications to carry out their practice works.

On the other hand, these devices have disadvantages in the classroom, too. There is not WiFi connection, for this reason teachers and students cannot surf the web to visit web pages, watch videos online, do video conferencing, access social medias such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etcetera. Furthermore, many of the students do not have gadgets or they do not know how to use them, as well as some teachers do not want to use them.

In spite of some obstacles, it is important the implementation of ICTs in the classroom because they help students to put in practice their creativity and ability, the learning seems to be more meaningful. It is clear that the objectives are to fix the contents to facilitate their comprehension when knowledge are evaluated and obviously the handling of technological tools and their applications.

                                                                Assitive Technology

Technology has been improving diferent ways to solve poeple´s trouble; this is the case of Assistive Technology. Assistive Technology is used to help people with physical disabilities create a variety of useful methods, but it has its negative point of view too.

To star with, one advantage of Assistive Technology may make daily common action easy. Prosthesis help people without extremities to reach things. they could help for drawing, to move from some places to another ones, or it could be used only to be esthetically normal. Another advantage of these technological resources could hepl improve humans health. To be clear with this, people with different skills normally appeal to get esthetical prothesis to feel socially confartable with themselves using their new extremities to do things which they can not do without them.

But on the other hand, some of these artifacts may be so expensive that low-income people would be not able to get them. In the case of  paralityc folk , they  approximately should pay three hundred dollars for their wheelchair. And in some cases this amount of money is hard to get. another disadvantage for these kind of persons may be that the places they frequent may not be trainned to the same. For example a school without an entrance for disable kids would be not helping them get in the school

To sum up, Assistive Technologies are being used to help people with disabilities make their daily common activities easier and make them feel socially confortable , but we must ensure that every place we frequently go with this special person are adapted for, and in the case of low income people give them a hand to get that resource they need to make their life easier and more confortable
